Admissions

Admission Procedures

The first step to admission is to have a tour of the school. You may call (814.866.3760) or email (info@montessoriinthewoods.org) the office to schedule a tour.
After taking a tour of the school you can schedule a classroom observation and fill out the Application. Observations take place between 9:30 and 11:30 AM. We recommend a minimum of thirty minutes for your observation.

REGISTRATION

To register, an application form must be filled out and submitted with a one-time fee of $50.00 (checks are payable to Montessori In The Woods or MITW). The registration fee is non-refundable and does not apply to tuition. Each child must register prior to enrollment.

ENROLLMENT

A pre-enrollment interview is required. This is a time for the guide (teacher) and the child to meet, with the parents present. It serves as the child’s introduction to the classroom. An enrollment contract must be completed each year for each child, including a $100.00 deposit, which holds the child’s space in the program. This deposit is non-refundable, but will be credited towards tuition. At enrollment, the following documents are also required:

• Completed enrollment Contract with $100.00 non-refundable deposit
• Immunization Record or Letter of Exemption from Immunizations
• Completed Emergency Contact Form (to be updated every six months)
• Completed Child Health Care Assessment Form
• Completed Child Care Agreement Form
• Fundraising Contract

PHASE-IN

To assist young children in making the transition from home to school we introduce them gradually to the Montessori environment over several weeks. For new toddlers and preschoolers, we start with the one-on-one interview, then a week of one-hour days (9:00- 10:00 AM), followed by a week of two-hour days (9:00 – 11:00 days), and finally regular three hour days.

For all extended day students we start each new school year gradually having them come in 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon for the first week. Starting the second week they come in for the full extended day, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday – Thursday, and 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon on Fridays.

Elementary students attend Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM beginning the first day of school.

Please download the forms and email the office to schedule your tour to begin the application process.
